Format | Description | File type | What happens to the file that you import |
---|---|---|---|
BMP | Windows Bitmap | Bitmap | PhotoDraw supports all Windows and OS/2 bitmaps, including RLE (Run Length Encoded) bitmaps and DIB (device-independent bitmaps). |
CDR | CorelDRAW | Vector | PhotoDraw supports file formats in CDR, CMT, CMX, and PAT file
formats from CorelDRAW 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, and 6.0, with these limitations:
|
CGM | Computer Graphics Metafile | Vector | PhotoDraw supports all three encodings of Version 1 of CGM 1992, and all valid .cgm graphics files, but not CGM 1992 Versions 2, 3, and 4. |
DRW | Micrografx Designer/Draw | Vector | PhotoDraw supports all Micrografx Designer 3.x, Charisma 2.1,
and Draw files. Because these files don't contain information about the size of the image,
PhotoDraw imports the entire first page of the file just as it would appear in Micrografx
Designer. After the image is imported, you can crop it to the exact
size you need. The following elements are not supported:
Note The filter that allows you to import .drw files is not installed by default. If you want to install .drw files, reinstall PhotoDraw, and check the DRW filter. |
DXF | AutoCAD Format 2-D | Vector | PhotoDraw imports multiple viewport.dxf files by
using the current viewport. There is no support for:
Note The filter that allows you to import .dxf files is not installed by default. If you want to install DXF file format, reinstall PhotoDraw, and check the DXF filter. |
EMF | Enhanced Metafile | Vector | PhotoDraw fully supports enhanced Metafiles , with one limitation: imported vector objects cannot be broken apart, and their points cannot be edited in PhotoDraw. |
EPS | Encapsulated PostScript | Vector | PhotoDraw supports Adobe Systems Encapsulated PostScript
Specification Versions 3.0 and earlier, including EPS formats from TIFF (tagged image file
format) and WMF (Windows Metafile) embedded previews. If an .eps file contains an embedded TIF format or Windows Metafile preview, a representation of the image appears on the screen. The quality of the preview depends on the resolution of the TIF format or Windows Metafile format embedded in the .eps file when it's created. Low, medium, and high resolutions are generally available for creating an .eps file. The higher the resolution of the preview image, the larger the .eps file size will be. Because such previews are primarily used to position images on the page, resolution is often low. A high-resolution preview isn't necessary because it is discarded when the .eps file is printed to a Postscript printer. If an embedded TIFF or Windows Metafile preview isn't included in the .eps file you import, the graphic displays a message instead of a preview of the graphic in your presentation. However, the graphic prints correctly to a PostScript printer. If you print an .eps file to a non-Postscript printer, the preview image is printed as it appears on the screen. All .eps files are designed for printing to a PostScript printer. |
FPX | Flashpix | Bitmap | PhotoDraw fully supports FPX format. |
GIF | Graphics Interchange Format | Bitmap | PhotoDraw supports versions GIF87a (including interlacing) and GIF89a (including interlacing and transparency), with one limitation: only the first image of a multi-image GIF is imported. |
JPG | Joint Photographic Experts Group | Bitmap | PhotoDraw supports version 6.0 of the JFIF (JPEG File Interchange Format), but not JTIF (JPEG Tagged Interchange Format) files (JTIF and CMYK (cyan-magenta-yellow-black) JPEG file formats. |
MIC | Microsoft Image Composer | Bitmap | PhotoDraw fully supports MIC file format. |
MIX | Microsoft PictureIt! | Bitmap | PhotoDraw fully supports all files created in Microsoft Picture It! And saved in MIX file format. |
PCD | Kodak Photo CD | Bitmap | PhotoDraw supports Kodak Photo CD Version 3.0. Because the Photo CD graphics file format stores multiple images with different resolutions, orientations, and color depths, you need to specify the resolution, orientation, and color depth of the image in the Options dialog box that appears when you import a Kodak Photo CD file. By default, the filter imports an image with 768 x 512 pixels and 24-bit color depth. |
PCX | PC Paintbrush | Bitmap | PhotoDraw supports all versions of the .pcx file through ZSoft
Version 3.0, with support for 256-color images. This is the common interchange format used
by Microsoft Windows Paintbrush. Note The filter that allows you to import .pcx files is not installed by default. If you want to install .pcx files, reinstall PhotoDraw and check the PCX filter. |
PCT | Macintosh PICT | Vector | When you copy your Macintosh PICT file formats to a computer
that uses Windows, rename them with the .pct file extension so that PhotoDraw can
recognize the files as PICT formats. For example, if you have a graphics file named
"Bear" on the Macintosh, you should rename the file to "Bear.pct"
before you attempt to open the file in PhotoDraw. Note The filter that allows you to import .pct files is not installed by default. If you want to install .pct files, reinstall PhotoDraw and check the PCT filter. |
PNG | Portable Network Graphics | Bitmap | PhotoDraw imports all files conforming to the Portable Network Graphics Tenth Specification (Version 1.0). |
PSD | Adobe Photoshop | Bitmap | PhotoDraw fully supports all .psd files. Each layer becomes a separate object in PhotoDraw. |
TGA | Truevision Targa | Bitmap | PhotoDraw supports all TGA (Truevision Targa) file formats with
up to 32 bits
per pixel. Note The filter that allows you to import .tga files is not installed by default. If you want to install .tga files, reinstall PhotoDraw and check the TGA filter. |
TIF | Tagged Image File Format | Bitmap | PhotoDraw supports all TIF formats that conform to TIFF
Specification Revision 5.0 and 6.0, Part 1: Baseline TIFF, including monochrome,
grayscale, palette color, and RGB True Color
images. Single 8-bit alpha channel stored with an RGB True Color image is correctly
handled, as are CMYK (cyan-magenta-yellow-black) images saved with the TIF format
extension. Note the following limitations:
|
WMF | Windows Metafile | Vector | PhotoDraw supports the Windows Metafile format, with one limitation: imported vector objects cannot be broken apart, and their points cannot be edited in PhotoDraw. |
WPG | WordPerfect Graphics | Bitmap | PhotoDraw supports WordPerfect Graphics versions 1.0, 1.0e, and
2.0, which correspond to WordPerfect Version 6.x and earlier. For .wpg files created in
DrawPerfect, the picture frame size is the size of the screen. Note the following limitations:
Note The filter that allows you to import files is not installed by default. If you want to install files, reinstall PhotoDraw and check the WPG filter. |
